Call for Dancers

What makes a house haunted?

This year, we are delving deep into haunted houses and the ghosts that live there. Who is your ghost? Why are they there? How do they interact with humans? Create your ghost character and dance as them in Walk of Haunts.

Who: Adults and teens with a ballet background who are comfortable with improv.

All are accepted, no audition required.

***There is a limited number of professional positions available,

and they will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis.

***There is no age cutoff for youth dancers, but parents are advised to use discretion, as some heavy themes may be included.

When and Where: The evening of Friday, October 25 at Deer Creek Overlook in Street, MD.

Compensation: Professionals 18+ years of age will be paid.

All dancers can take Ballet Nocturne virtual classes for free while preparing for the performance.

Casting: Create your own character! Lists of available props and costume pieces are below.

New props and costumes may be made, but not guaranteed.

If you would prefer to have a character assigned, inform us in your performer commitment form.

Time Commitment: All rehearsals will be virtual.

Professional dancers are not required to rehearse, but may be asked to send an improv video during the process.

Pre-professional/youth dancers will have up to one virtual rehearsal per week that will run 30-60 minutes.

Artistic Vibe: This show will not take place in a specific historical time frame, just somewhere in the past.

Most of the props, costumes, and sets we own span 1800s-1970s.

The event is open to all ages, so please keep themes subtle and child appropriate. No gore.

Improv should include some ballet vocabulary, but other than that, run free with your ideas! We are focusing more on artistic development of the character for this performance than on choreography.

If you'd like to include any mixed media elements to your ghost (i.e. make a painting, soundscore, etc.),

please include that in your description when filling out the commitment form.

 Email ballet.nocturne@gmail.com with questions.

Deadline for interest and commitment is Saturday, September 21st at 1:00 PM.
